BAFASAL® IS A NATURAL SOLUTION FOR CONSUMER SAFETY
We know that consumers want high-quality and inexpensive poultry meat and eggs as a staple in their diets. Food Safety is becoming an important factor in consumer awareness and an integral part of their expectations. Meanwhile, the rise of antibiotic resistant bacteria is making Food Safety an increasing priority.
BAFASAL® has been created with the goal of Food Safety in mind. At Proteon Pharmaceuticals SA, it is our mission to eliminate the need for use of antibiotics on the farm by creating natural and sustainable antibacterial products. We have also made it a goal that our solutions improve the economic efficiency of the farm, allowing farmers to produce food more effectively and with a reduced ecological footprint. Meanwhile the entire food distribution chain benefits from the elimination of bacterial infections like Salmonella.
HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF AGAINST SALMONELLA INFECTION:
Washing raw poultry before cooking it is not recommended. Bacteria in raw meat and poultry juices can be spread to other foods, utensils, and surfaces. This is called cross-contamination.
Rinsing or soaking chicken does not destroy bacteria. Only cooking will destroy any bacteria that might be present on fresh chicken.
Cooking poultry meat to at least 74 Celsius, minimum internal temperature, and eggs at least 71.1 Celsius, is recommended as this is the temperature at which bacteria are destroyed.
Use a separate cutting board and cutlery for cutting and preparing chicken and other food to avoid cross-contamination.
Read food labels carefully and check for sale dates carefully. Do not use products past their ‘good by’ dates.
